BENEFITS:
Maximum Benefits: $10,000; $25,000; $50,000; $100,000 and $150,000.
Emergency Hospital & Medical Coverage: Up to the amount of insurance purchased for emergency hospital accommodation (semi-private) and following medical services:
Physicians, surgeons, anesthetic and registered graduate nurse.
Diagnostic Treatments: Lab tests and X-ray examinations ordered by a physician.
Ambulance Transportation: Licensed local air, land, or sea ambulance (including mountain or sea evacuation, when necessary, to the nearest hospital.
Medical Appliance: Rental of crutches or hospital-type bed and the cost of splints, trusses, braces or other prosthetics.
Prescription drugs or medicines, one-month's supply, to a maximum of $500.
Professional Medical Services referred by a physician - care received from a licensed chiropractor and physiotherapist, up to $500 per category of practitioner.
Funeral Expenses: In the event of death from covered condition, up to $10,000 is provided to return the body home, or up to $4,000 for cremation or burial at the place of death.
Accidental Dental: Up to $3,000 for repair or replacement of whole or sound natural teeth damaged by an accidental blow to the face.
Dental Emergencies: Up to $500 for the immediate relief of acute dental pain, other than provided under Accidental Dental.
Act of Terrorism: If you sustain a loss from an act of terrorism that is covered under this plan we will pay up to an aggregate limit in Canadian dollars.
Follow-up Visits: Up to three follow-up visits to your physician after a covered emergency treatment, unless otherwise approved by TIC.
Emergency Transportation: The cost up to the policy limit of air ambulance, one-way economy airfare or stretcher to transport you to your country of origin, and a medical attendant if required, when immediate medical consultation is required following a covered emergency sickness or injury.
Return Home: Up to $3,000 for the cost of one-way economy transportation to your country of origin if the covered sickness or injury necessitates your immediate return home during the period of coverage. Includes one additional insured family member.
Accidental Death & Dismemberment: Up to the policy limit for accidental loss of life, limb or sight.
Bedside Companion: Up to $3,000 for round-trip economy transportation to bring a family member or close friend to your bedside.
Attendant: Up to $500 for an attendant (not related to you) to care for your insured travelling companion (under age 18, or reliant on you for assistance), if you are hospitalized for 48 hours or more.
Stable Pre-existing Medical Condition is covered up to age 69 if it has been stable in the 180 days immediately before the effective date.

If you are 70 to 79 years of on the effective date, you have to complete a Medical Questionnaire and have to be approved in writing by TIC in order to be covered for the following Stable Pre-existing Medical Condition: any cardiovascular, cerebrovascular and respiratory condition. Cardiovascular means arrhythmia, atrial fibrillation, heart murmur, chest pain or angina, arteriosclerosis, carotid artery occlusion, congestive heart failure, cardiac surgery, angioplasty or stent, peripheral vascular disease, use of pacemaker or defibrillator, or aneurysm, or any other condition relating to the heart or cardiovascular system. Cerebrovascular means cerebrovascular accident (CVA), stroke transient ischemic attach (TIA), aneurysm, or mini-stroke. Respiratory means chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, or any other respiratory condition requiring the use of corticosteroids.

Any other pre-existing medical condition not listed above is covered up to age 79 if it has been stable in the 180 days immediately before the effective date.

If you are 80 years of age or over on the effective date - there is no coverage for any pre-existing medical condition unless you have completed a Medical Questionnaire, have been approved in writing by TIC and have paid the required premium.

OPTIONAL BENEFITS:
Flight Accident:
Choose either $200,000 or $500,000 of coverage for loss of life, limb, or sight, or disappearance resulting from an aircraft accident.
Trip Interruption:
Once you have started your trip, Trip Interruption insurance provides coverage amounts of $800, $1,500, or $2,000 for one-way transportation home in the event of an unexpected, insured event.

EXCLUSIONS:
Your coverage is subject to various exclusions, which are completely set out in the Exclusions section of the policy document. The following, although not an exhaustive list, are some of these exclusions:
AGE LIMITS: To be eligible for coverage a person must be at least 15 days old. Maximum period of coverage is 365 days. Visitors over age of 85 needs to complete a medical questionnaire in order to receive coverage. Minimum premium is 10 day per person or family.
No coverage after 2 years of uninterrupted coverage under a TIC insurance plan.
Coverage in NOT AVAILABLE to any individual who:
a) has been diagnosed with a terminal illness;
b) has Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) or Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV);
c) has Alzheimer's Disease or any other type of dementia;
d) has received any type of treatment for pancreatic cancer, liver cancer or any type of cancer that has metastasized;
e) has been prescribed home oxygen treatment in the last 12 months;
f) has had a major organ transplant (heart, kidney, liver, lung); or
g) has received kidney dialysis treatment in the last 12 months.
WAITING PERIOD For illness: Any sickness for which symptoms occurred within 48 hours of the effective date if the policy has been purchased AFTER your arrival in Canada. No waiting period if the application for this insurance is completed PRIOR to arrival in Canada or before the expiry date of the existing TIC Visitors to Canada policy.
PRE-EXISTING CONDITION means a sickness, injury or medical condition, whether or not diagnosed by a physician:
- for which you exhibited signs or symptoms; or
- for which you required or received medical consultation; and
- which existed prior to the effective date of your coverage.
Note: Pre-existing medical conditions look back period is 180 days for visitors up to age 79 and Lifetime for age 80 and over unless a medical questionnaire has been completed and approved by TIC.
STABLE CONDITION applies to a pre-existing medical condition that:
- did not demonstrate any new, more frequent, or more severe signs or symptoms;
- did not require, or was not referred for any medical consultation; and
- did not require a change in type, brand, frequency or dosage of medication.

OTHER EXCLUSIONS:
- Any sickness or injury where the trip is taken to get medical treatment or advice for such injury or sickness.
- Loss, death or injury that is contributed to by the abuse of drugs, alcohol or any other intoxicant.
- Any injury or sickness, or state of health which, prior to the effective date of coverage, was such as to render expected medical treatment or hospitalization.
- Expenses incurred as a result of pregnancy or childbirth
- Any emotional, mental or nervous disorders. .
- Expenses incurred outside of Canada where the majority of the time on risk has not been spent in Canada.
- Expenses incurred inside an insured's country of origin which is other than Canada.

CLAIMS:
You must notify TIC Emergency Assistance (toll free 1-800-995-1662 or worldwide collect 416-340-0049) prior to any surgery being performed or within 24 hours of admission to a hospital. Failure to do so, without reasonable cause, will result in the reduction of eligible benefit amounts payable by 20%.
- To make your claim, complete the claim form and include all original bills. Incomplete forms will cause delay.
- Claims must be reported within 30 days of occurrence.
- Written proof of claim must be submitted within 90 days of occurrence.
- For Accidental Death & Dismemberment Benefits include also: 1. Police report; 2. Coroner's report; 3. Death certificate.

FAQ:
What are the requirements for coverage?
To be eligible for coverage a person must:
- be at least 15 days old; and
-not be insured or eligible for benefits under a Canadian government health insurance plan; and
- be currently in good health and know of no reason to seek medical consultation during the period of coverage; and
- not reside in a nursing home, convalescent home, or rehabilitation centre; and
- not require assistance with daily living activities; and
- not have exceeded two years of uninterrupted coverage under a TIC insurance plan.

Are the premiums refundable?
Refunds are payable:
- 100% if the policy is cancelled during the 10 day examination period.
- 100% - $10 administration fee if cancelled after 10 day examination period and before the effective date of the policy
- After the effective date of the policy are possible partial cancellations in case the insured returns to their country of origin 15 days or more prior the expiry date and has no claims or other loss. Partial cancellations are charged a $25 administration fee. Premiums less than $10 will not be refunded.

Are there age limits?
Coverage is not available for persons less than 15 days old. Persons over age 85 must complete a medical questionnaire and receive written acceptance from TIC.

I want to stay longer. Can I extend my coverage?
Yes, you can subject to policy terms and conditions. Just call your agent or TIC at least 5 DAYS BEFORE the expiry of your policy. You must be in good health and not have incurred any losses with TIC.

Will this cover me for trips outside Canada?
Yes, provided the majority of your period of coverage is spent in Canada. Expenses incurred in your country or origin will not be covered.
